In elementary school, I have a vivid memory of each student being given a jar with soil and one bean. We were instructed to take our seedling bean home, water it and give it some sun. A tiny green sprout out of the soil, days later the stem grew taller and tiny leaves began to wing out of the stem. The thrill of seeing life and transformation before me was viscerally moving.
Are we not meant to grow and thrive like this seedling as well?
What would I like to foster and nurture?
This is an invitation to cultivate your vision of how you would like to grow.
Pick one thing in which we might feel blocked or struggling with.
I personally have an action partner to check-in and bookend difficult tasks. Others have told me attending our weekly in person or online classes has helped reduce feelings fear, isolation and disconnection.
When we share our struggles and our successes without any shame and competition we are committing ourselves more deeply for change. Our vulnerability also helps others to witness our process and growth with the inevitable obstacles.
If we start out small this will be manageable and one is empowered.
Our intention or vision is our seedling and the fertile soil is the community and environment safe support.
The flower or bean in this case is our peace and beauty.
Once we decide what we are growing and focusing on,
we can protect our new fragile seedling by committing to the baby steps and process.
Our practice, intention and meditation can support us to uphold our resolve.
When we falter we begin again, honoring our peace that is our true nature and ever present.
